- Computer Equipment for Artists -

Thank you for visiting ArtistsConsult, LLC. We are in process of updating the website and are working on a series of articles about various equipment options and equipment choices.

Some artists like Apple Computer equipment due to it's graphics-handling ability and it's consistent interface. The downside is that the equipment is expensive and upgrades are limited.

We prefer the more common PC because it it much less expensive and has a very wide base of free and commercial applications. Hardware is relatively easy to upgrade if you know how to use a screwdriver (in some instances, the computers allow "tool-less" modifications)

Money for nothin’.... Now that ain’t workin’ that’s the way you do it...

Lyric from “Money for Nothing”, by Dire Straits

Being an artist is not a choice you make; you either are an artist, or you are not. An artist has to make art!

Making art is about creatively expressing your ideas/concepts in your own way. In this context, your art ("pure art" - "art for arts sake") is successful if you think it is! Other people's ideas of good art are not relevant to you.

Being a professional artist is a somewhat divergent path inasmuch as "success" is expressed in other terms, usually financial.

"Money for nothin'", means you love being an artist, You love creating your art; and, thus, making money from doing what makes you happiest is truly "Money for nothin'".
